Highlights from the 2024 FAST Member Meeting
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Highlights from the Falls Area SingleTrack Member Meeting
Our recent member meeting was packed with exciting updates and celebrations. For those who couldn’t attend, here’s a quick recap of everything happening at Falls Area SingleTrack (FAST):
State of the Dirt
Thanks to our dedicated volunteers, 2024 has been an incredible year for trail maintenance and development. This season, you all put in around 1,200 volunteer hours—a testament to the strength of our trail community.
Flood Recovery: Spring floods left some trails in rough shape, but thanks to our hard-working crews, the trails were restored quickly and efficiently.
Legacy Park Rehabilitation: A major effort was made to rehabilitate and improve the hillside trails at Legacy Park, ensuring they’re safer and more enjoyable for all users.
Record Dry Summer: Despite one of the driest summers on record, our team worked hard to keep the trails in top condition, adapting to shifting conditions and ensuring the trails remained accessible.
Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TKMBD)
This year’s Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day was a hit! Families came out to ride, learn about the trails, and foster a love of biking in the next generation. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event so successful!
Trail Leads: Recognizing Our Leaders and Looking Ahead
Our trails wouldn’t be possible without our amazing Trail Leads, who oversee maintenance and improvement projects throughout the year. A huge thank you to this year’s leaders:
Andrew Hoy – Legacy + Dunham
Scott Bossman – Leaders
John Gruber – River Boulevard Greenway
Andrew Moore – Tuthill
Nate Lechtenberg – Pasley + Riverdale
Ethan Metz – Yankton Trail
As we look to next year, we’re calling on new volunteers to step up as Trail Leads, especially for Dunham, Legacy, Pasley, and Riverdale. If you’re interested, reach out—we’d love to have you on board!
If you see an issue on the trail, please reach out to FAST via direct messages on social media or through our website contact form here.
TrailBot App
We’re thrilled to announce that FAST is now live on the TrailBot App! This tool will streamline communication about trail conditions and updates, making it easier than ever to stay informed. Be sure to download the app and start using it today!
Sioux Falls Area Running Club Donation
A big thank-you to Nathan Schwab and the Sioux Falls Area Running Club, who presented FAST with a $3,500 check at the meeting. Over the past eight years, they’ve contributed an incredible $26,500 to support our trails. Your ongoing generosity makes a huge difference—thank you!
Great Bear Progress and Funding Callout
Our work at Great Bear Recreation Park has been a rewarding challenge as we continue to learn and adapt. However, there’s still a long way to go to fully fund this ambitious $1.2 million project. So far, we’ve raised $150,000, but we need your help to reach our goal. If you’re passionate about bringing this project to life, consider contributing or helping us spread the word to potential supporters. Every dollar makes a difference!
