At Falls Area SingleTrack (FAST), we build trails because we believe in the power of outdoor adventure, community connection, and sustainable recreation. Our latest project, The Great Trail Build. Destination: Bear, is more than just carving paths through the landscape—it’s about creating opportunities, enhancing access, and fostering a love for the outdoors in Sioux Falls.

A New Era of Trail Access

Great Bear Ski Valley has long been a hub for winter sports, but its potential as a year-round outdoor destination has yet to be fully realized—until now. By expanding and improving the trail system, we’re giving hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners a new playground to explore right in our backyard. These trails will offer varied terrain for all skill levels, from beginners looking to get their tires dirty for the first time to experienced riders craving technical challenges.

Built by the Community, for the Community

Trail building isn’t just about digging dirt and moving rocks—it’s about creating something meaningful together. Volunteers, donors, and local businesses are rallying behind this project because they see the value in having high-quality trails close to home. Every hour of labor, every dollar donated, and every supportive voice helps transform Great Bear into a premier outdoor destination that benefits everyone.

Why These Trails Matter

  • Expanding Recreation Opportunities: Sioux Falls has a thriving outdoor culture, and Great Bear’s new trails will provide even more ways to get outside and stay active.

  • Connecting People to Nature: Easy access to trails means more people can experience the mental and physical benefits of outdoor recreation.

  • Boosting Local Economy: Well-maintained trails attract visitors, support local businesses, and increase tourism in the area.

  • Sustainability and Stewardship: By designing trails responsibly, we ensure that Great Bear’s natural beauty is preserved for future generations.

Join the Movement

The Great Trail Build isn’t just a FAST project—it’s a community effort. Whether you volunteer for a dig day, donate to support the build, or simply spread the word, you’re helping to make these trails a reality.

These aren’t just trails; they’re pathways to adventure, fitness, and a stronger community. Join us in making Great Bear a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts across Sioux Falls and beyond.
